Re: Hops kicked out of freezer
I did wonder about that, I was under the impression that the foil packs would still seep oxygen in, does anyone have any hard evidence of this, it would be great to know for sure that storing the foil packs in a cupboard is a feasible longer term storage idea (under a year I'm thinking).

hi, i just got a delivery from farams in 5kg vacume packs and they told me they last 5 years unopened and when opened if you seal back up and keep cool they should last 6 months, i know 5kg sounds alot but i bought brewers gold for £5.40 per kilo so its worth it if it keeps that long.
cheers Neil

I've had at least one foil pack that wasn't completely sealed properly and started to balloon, even in the freezer, so I guess a close inspection is required, at minimum.subfaction wrote:I did wonder about that, I was under the impression that the foil packs would still seep oxygen in, does anyone have any hard evidence of this, it would be great to know for sure that storing the foil packs in a cupboard is a feasible longer term storage idea (under a year I'm thinking).

If the opposition did that to me she'd be under the patio quick time.

It's easy for me because SWMBO wanted to put a chest freezer in my workshop, so she knows not to mention these......
