In answer to your question mate, I said I would get plain old crushed pale malt. The stuff that makes up to 90% of any real ale recipe.

From the replies and P.M. messages I have had it looks like I can easily sell what I need to....

So, can I just say, first come first served to my house with the cash when I am in possession of the malt? Remember I am not making any money out of this so if your name was on the list and you miss out because someone beat you to it then I'm really sorry. I have to do it this way, because I don't want to be stuck with 5 bags of crushed malt that I cannot use.

I will post back here on this thread as soon as I am in possession and will at that point post my mobile number to make arrangements.

I can understand your point but could we not pay in advance? If I drove to morley for no reason that would also be a waste of time

I wouldn't waste your time Bert.

I will keep updating this thread as they disappear and my number will be in here so anyone who calls me and says to put their name on one will get one.

I am not making any money and am just trying to cover myself. I don't want to promise one to someone who then lets me down. You always get one. Then I'll be stuck with malt until I can use it, and I'll be out of pocket more than I wanted, so I won't have saved anything.

I will do my utmost to not let anyone travel and waste their time.

"The stuff that makes up to 90% of any real ale recipe."

You guys still need the other 10% to make your beer. You'll be for first to moan when your local HBS has to put the prices of the stuff you all cant get hold of, or has to close.
All this for saving about 5p a pint?

I'd be in but I'm not coming up to Morley until the end of the month (usually last weekend) and that price makes it much cheaper than my source, a local micro brewery....

I usually agree with the comments made by Reaper, but in this case for base malts, I'd be willing to forgo my usual trip to the brewery for that price and continue to shop at my LHBS for the additions.

BTW I pay around £27 for MO for a 25kg and I think I can get my Crystal and Torri Wheat from the brewery too

I have requested that we collect them on Friday next week.

I've not heard back from her yet but can't see that being a problem. They asked for 7 days notice if possible so I think that is the plan.

Are you seriously saying we should not shop around for better deals?
If your supplier got too expensive wouldn’t you look for a better deal?

I agree with supporting the local home brew shop. I was in there on Saturday and spent £15.00.

However, If I can make a saving I will, and if they were selling malt at £25.00 a sack I probably wouldn't bother.

The last sack of malt I bought from the home brew shop was £32.00, a bit different from £18.80 or whatever it is. Yes, I understand that they have to make a living but that is a serious margin. I am in business and would be a rich man if I could make that sort of margin on my products.

Anyway, as mentioned earlier in this thread. The malt will be with me on Friday Morning, one of the other members on here and me are picking it up at 10.00 on Friday.

Here is my mobile number with an attempt to keep it away from the spam bots on my part. I don't want text messages trying to sell me double glazing.

It is zero then a sivan then another one of that number. Next is a won then a seven.

Und the next numbers are as follows, Fife then an eyt then a too, and the last three digits are 421

Please give me a call on Friday to let me know when you are coming to Morley with the cash. I will give you my address on the phone.

P.S. If you can't understand my cryptic telephone number above, then send me a P.M. on here and I will P.M. you it by return.

Always make me laugh threads like this, I would love to make £18 a sack of grain the fact is we dont
20% VAT ( which breweries and matings should charge you but dont ) thats £6 gone already
in our case Free delivery over £65 Costs us approx £6.00 upto 30 kgs so a sack to ship is £6.00 as most customers has a sack and other items = 2 parcels
Thats without all the other business costs staff, electric, water, heating, insurance, Music licenses, waste etc
and after all that theres 20% corperation tax if you lucky to make a profit

End of the day we and most shops are lucky to make 8% on a sack of grain. now convert that to the £15 and work out how much the shop may of made

Sorry threads like this i dont bother responding too, but this one just got me for some reason.
