If you were diluting with say RO water or deionised I guess that might be a good idea but the Tesco stuff does bring something to the party so it would be interesting to know what that was as it is going to drive any mineral additions and affect alkalinity.guypettigrew wrote:Or just get a Murphy's done on your tap water and follow the recommendations which come with the report.Dave S wrote:I'm planning to get a Murphy's analysis done on a 50:50 mix of my tap water and Tesco's or Asda's value jobbies. I'm thinking it should be more or less bang on for pales. My tap water is very good as it is, (with minor adjustments) for porters and stouts.
Saves buying the Tesco water and the cost of any additions you'll need in terms of the price of the salts etc will be minimal.
I brew all my beers now using my ordinary tap water modified by Murphy's recommendations. Works well for me.

Re: Confused I Need Help With Mineral Additions Please
I do have a Murphy's report for my tap water. The trouble is the chloride levels are rather high - 110ppm. The idea of diluting with Asco's is to get that number down to around 50-60. Then I can add gypsum/magnesium to up the calcium and sulphate levels for my pales and bitters.guypettigrew wrote:Or just get a Murphy's done on your tap water and follow the recommendations which come with the report.Dave S wrote:I'm planning to get a Murphy's analysis done on a 50:50 mix of my tap water and Tesco's or Asda's value jobbies.
