My first AG fermented in 3 or 4 days with SO4 yeast.

Maybe she's wrong (but that never happens !!!)

Need a bit advice, for next time,,,

On the first attempt, the mash seemed a bit thick, think we did the calcs right,,, 2lts to 1kg,,,, didnt want to do 2.5lts first off as wasnt sure size if mash tun

the first sparge went in the mash, grains were given a good stir, then recirculated back into the mash, drained into the boiler,, still wasnt clear???

it wasnt until the second batch that the wort began to run clear,,,

Eventually, managed to get 23lrs in the FV @ 1062, recipe was 1070,,, any ideas suggestions

Cheers Mal

I jug back the first few litres then run off into the boiler. Invariably mine is never totally clear either until I'm getting towards the end but this has had no detrimental effects on the brightness of my finished beers. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi Mal, when it says clear, it doesn't necessarily mean 'crystal clear', it means clear, as in no more bits of grian, husk, etc. HTH :D

Boo, after the 3 brews we done the 3rd has stuck at about 1029, tried giving a stir,,, nowt,,,, added a bit more S04,,,nowt. I have a bag of spraymalt handy, do you think its worth sprinkling a bit in or is it a waste of time?... BTW it looks like a milkpond with all the krud, crap around the FV,, as if the origional yeast did its job,, and it only started around 1045ish,,,

However our first 2 all attemps have been sampled ( only a weeek in ),,, absolutly gorgeous,,, sill cloudy but nice,, Cheers Mal
