Black pudding? White pudding? This is a Homebrew forum, not Jamie Oliver's Dodgy Sausages.Bopper wrote:Garth wrote:Ok Dick, what does that prove, so you have a Facebook page....and .....

Re: Proven recipes
My beer's been on the telly loads of times in the past although since we got the flat panel TV it's a lot harder to balance the glass.

Bopper wrote:I have done quite a lot of research and most ales contain some sort of added sugar eg. Wadworth 6x, Arkells 3B's and the recipe that interest me very much is "Ind coope draught burton ale" which has a high percentage of maltose syrup....

Would that research be from a very old copy of Graham Wheelers 'Brew Your Own Real Ale At Home' (Page 114 for the Burton Ale), could I suggest that you do a bit more research and read the first 3 paragraphs on Page 3 and the first on Page 4 . . . . When Graham admits that his recipes are an attempt to emulate the beers . . . . and
.. . . there is a considerable amount of computer aided guesswork in these recipes, but they are as close as we will be able to get without a good deal of trial brewing and a multitude of comparisons on each individual beer
. . . I could also suggest that you get yourself a newer reference book as well and the latest edition doesn't use any of these fancy sugars that were difficult to get even at the time the book was current
