... in order to buy grain, etc, direct from wholesalers, rather than pay premium prices from retail shops. Could be fun, as well as saving money. If you're interested, email me at LRNDQG at BTINTERNET.COM.

Or you could always deal with Reaper at Barley Bottom who does just this, at damn good prices and excellent service
Bit of a long drive from Somerset, though!Aleman wrote:Or you could always deal with Reaper at Barley Bottom who does just this, at damn good prices and excellent service
I do buy my brewing ingredients from Barleybottom who I think provides us all with a valuable service which needs support to ensure it remains available.
That said however, the oportunity to meet up with local homebrewers would be useful.
We're not all that far from Tuckers maltings either so it might make sense to make some bulk purchases locally and save some "food miles" and continue to buy hops and sundries from Paul.

Nor from Warminster Maltings, which is probably a lot nearer to me than Tuckers down in Newton Abbott. But I agree that we shouldn't do anything that would put other people's supplies at risk.Piscator wrote:I do buy my brewing ingredients from Barleybottom who I think provides us all with a valuable service which needs support to ensure it remains available.

But so far, the group is only two of us! Hardly going to pose too much of a risk.

Hi KB,
Sorry for appearing to put a damper on your idea, it was not my intention, If all you were doing was to bulk buy in supplies, then there are cheaper alternatives than retailers (Although If we stop using them they won't be around when we next need that emergency packet of yeast).
A local Brewing group is a great thing, more for the exchange of ideas, and opinions of beer than for cheaper supplies . . .although that does help
