Is this normal?

I've only ever removed it once and the brew went off because i interfered. just leave it alone until ten days are up, it'll be fine. this 'residue from the yeast' is proteins form your hot/cold break that have got in your fermentor and dead yeast cells. they're a jolly sight and will do no harm.alefric wrote:Yes Jammy .....perfectly normal,Just remove it carefully by patting it with a wooden spoon (it sticks to it) or very carefully skim it but don't take too much of the head off......it's just the residue from the yeast and if you don't remove it ,it can lead to off flavours in the finished beer....BTW it looks to be fermenting very nicely....well done.
