I've done three AG's before today, one disaster (a porter), one not great (ale), and one rather good (Burton Bridge clone). Today I decided to use up some leftovers. I'm about to start cooling it, but I wondered if anyone knew what kind of beer it'll be like? Obviously I haven't checked the OG yet, but I've used:
4895g Maris Otter
82g Chocolate Malt
65g Crystal Malt
512g Wheat Malt
35g Challenger in the boil
5g Golding + 5g Target last 10 minutes
...and I'll use Safale 04
I'm looking at 20 litres in the FV.
Cheers
What's it gonna be???
Re: What's it gonna be???
Being new to all this I would say, it's going to be a drinkable brew, but as i say I'm new to this lark.
What kind of colour did it turn out to be? At a OG of 1060 it going to have some body to it and a decent alcohol level I guess . Let us know what it tastes like, I would be interested.
Cheers

Re: What's it gonna be???
I read those ingredients and thought "bloody hell, that'll be strong"....
It will certainly be drinkable. If it was me I would dilute it up to 23 or 25 litres in the FV but that's because I prefer less-strong ales.
Not sure what that amount of wheat will do but you've brewed it now so you are ideally placed to find out!

Hi lads,
it is quite dark, not a porter, but a bit darker than a ruby. As for diluting it, it's already fermenting away like a goodun now...is it too late? I'm also new to this lark, so don't know these finer points! I agree though that it was probably a bit too much wheat, I was just trying to use up bits left over! If it turns out well, I'll let y'all know. If it's crap, I'll keep quiet, and sneakily empty it on the veg patch... I must admit though, I'm quietly excited about this one...!

If in doubt, call it a porter.
