Summer Lightning yeast question

Post by Earth Titan » Wed May 27, 2009 10:06 pm

Just started drinking my Summer Lightning clone. Yummy... SWMBO reckons it is the best beer ever - so there you go.

Brewed it with S04 yeast and considering brewing it again but this time trying a hoegaarden style yeast.

Does this sound like it will improve the beer?
What effect would it have do you think?

If you're thinking something like a Danstar Munich yeast, then I don't see why it wouldn't work. :) Mabye brew the SL again (as it's obviously already popular!), but brew 6 gallons and stick a gallon into a demijohn and ferment with Munich or another similar yeast? Then just ferment the remaining with S-04 or your choice of yeast.

Fermenting: nowt (sadly). Drinking: still a few bottles of my imperial stout knocking about . . . it's rather good now
