Not fermenting too well. Question

Post by Brewmarc » Thu May 28, 2009 10:00 am

I have brewed a honey ale 31L@ OG 1054 & i have pitched with 1 packet ov S04 yeast (possibly underpitched) but its not fermenting well :( ie very slowly its been in the fv now for 10 days & the gravity still not much lower than 1020 & I would have expected lower. I have roused the yeast once a few days ago but it didnt seem to make much difference. I am now thinking weather it is a good idea to rack into a clean FV & pitch more yeast will this be a problem or should I just leave it alone?

I think one pack of S-04 in 31 litres of 1054 is probably asking quite a lot of the yeast, but if the gravity is still dropping then I'd leave it be for a bit yet. :)

Fermenting: nowt (sadly). Drinking: still a few bottles of my imperial stout knocking about . . . it's rather good now
