hi guys,
i finally got to try out my AG kit on wednesday and made a hob goblin clone using orfys recipe.
i hit a few little niggles but it all a learning curve and i hope to iron them out next time. I just waiting for it to ferment noe and then i will keg it and let u know how it all turned out.
a few question though -
1. The recipe stated to hold the mash at 69 degrees, my mashtun didnt hold the temp that well and it fell to 64 over 90mins. Can you tell me what effect this will have on the final product??
2. after draining the wort from my mash tun, i returned the runnings to get a clean wort b4 filling the boiler. part way trough, some grain had bypassed the false bottom and ended up in the boiler. again what will this do to the final product??
3. finally, how do i work out my efficientcy?? i ended up with 21.5 litres of wort at 1060 and had to add 1.5 litres to bring the total volume to 23 litres and get the gravity to 1056 which it what it should have been.
all in all a good day for me, just hope the beer tastes nice

1) None. Anywhere between 62c-69c is fine.
2) None. It'll settle out at the bottom of the FV.
3) I would guesstimate 75%. Hard to tell without knowing the exact ingredients etc but I suspect you'll be close to that figure which is good.
