problems with part filling a cask

Post by beesley121 » Sun Jun 14, 2009 10:44 am

hi guys,

i made a timothy taylor landlord clone last week and as i was up till 2.30am doing it i have now found out that i made a mistake when it came to the total volume. :(

yesterday i racked the TTL clone 3 points above final gravity to a cask but i only managed to fill the cask approx 3-5 litres short of the top

i did prurge the cask with CO2 beforehand and its still fermenting in secoundary as we speak so there should be a blanket of CO2 above the ale in the cask considering C02 is heavier than air. i intend to use a cask breather. i was going to leave it till wednesday to finish fermenting then knock the temp down in my fermentation chamber to approx 5 celcius for a week then raise it to 12 celcius for drinking

do you think i will have any problems??? if so what should i do???

P.S forgot to say that this is my 2nd all grain brew and when i had a little taste of it when racking, boy does it taste good!! :D even the miss'es gave it the thumbs up. That gotta be a winner in anyones book
