Honey Beer - to late hop or not

Post by Hawkinspm » Thu Jun 18, 2009 8:08 pm

I have read up various Honey beer recipes and there seems to be a variation on adding late hops or just using bittering hops. Has anyone done both and have an opinion on which is best?

I definitely want to keep the taste and aroma of honey in the beer so don't want to overpower with late hops but am thinking of a smaller amount ( maybe 5g or so at 15mins ) to provide some balance to the honey. Currently thinking Styrian Goldings for these late ones.

I am brewing tomorrow so any advice / opinions would be great or I'm just going to go with a last minute decision as usual..

Thanks
Paul

Saaz or Hallertauer would add to the honey vibe...

Styrian Goldings will be fine if you haven't got any of E1's suggested hops :D

Thanks guys, didn't have any of those hops, the Styrians were my best option to go with honey from my supplies - so went down that route... Smells pretty good at the moment, will see how it tastes.

Cheers
