Ive just picked up a very sturdy 60 litre boiler (thanks to john of Hop and Grape).
Question...
I asked them to put in 2x 38mm holes for my cheapo asda elements and they fit like a glove, however, is the fact when installed the element is about 5mm of the base. ok, i think this is pretty much how they are in kettles will this be ok?
dont want to melt it...

You could turn it upside down?
Re: H&G Boiler's Now Available again
Tried that but the switch gubbins I'd hope to remain intact would foul the floor!
Re: H&G Boiler's Now Available again
I'd lose the switches, to be honest, and turn them upside down. 5mm is too close. The boiler wall will soften during the boil, and there's a risk of the elements drooping onto the bottom of the vessel. Not worth the risk.
Re: H&G Boiler's Now Available again
What make/model # is the new 6oL container the Hop & Grape are selling ? I tried out the newer HK 60 Litre mark II I had as a boiler the other day and it worked fine I thought.
Re: H&G Boiler's Now Available again
I'd also like to know the make/model # of the new 60L container H&G are using for their boilers. Would be much obliged.
Re: H&G Boiler's Now Available again
Sorry to hijack the 60L thread, but would this 50L bucket from Brupaks do the job for a boiler? Anyone know where to get one from if it's up to the job?

Thanks, Gaz.
**EDIT: I think the answer is no - as per this thread.
