Hi All
I have brewed a barrel of Timothy Taylor Landlord for a party in late September. To my horror on checking the barrel today I have found a very small crack in the barrel. I have lost hardly any beer over the day and have sealed the crack with silicon selant and the leak seems to have stoped. Just out of interest is there anything else I can do to save the beer. On tasting the beer it tastes fine, although still young. I have spare barrels that I could transfer the beer too, but am woried that if the beer is contaminated by air that it will go off.
Your help, very much appreciated.
Cracked Barrel
Re: Cracked Barrel
I'd very carefully transfer to your other barrel. As the pressure increases in the cracked barrel it will likely start to leak beer again and I for one would hate to get up one morning and find my kitchen awash with my lovely beer. Provided you transfer it carefully without splashing and get some C02 in once filled I suspect it will be fine.
