A pic I took on Jun 7th this year about 10 mins up the road from me. Turns out as we had such splendid weather there's a bit of a bumper barley crop this year. Yields were up and prices are down. Good news for home brewers.
Farm prices from 'La France Agricole' (much like farmers weekly) on 19th June where showing for the following...
Orge De Brasserie (brewing Barley)
- Esterel €133/tonne
- Cervoise €124/tonne
- Prestige €153/tonne

I'd be interested to see how long this takes to filter through to local homebrew retailers in the Uk and what happens to malt/extract and kit prices over the next year.
A local brewing chum of mine just returned from a fortnights 'brewing school' in Belgium where he reports that numbers of smaller brewers there getting their grain even cheaper.. from Bellarus/Ukraine!
