storing ale?

Hi everyone i have quite a basic question i have 5 gallons of high gravitey christmas ale in one of those large glass carboyd. I was wondering how long will it keep in the glass carboyd before it will go off, caus iam waiting for some smaller bottles caus this ale gravitey is 11.5% abv and i don't want put that ale in pint bottles. :D :D

not quite sure how long ill last but I do know one thing - keep it out of the light. wrap it in a bin bag or something. It'll get lightstruck otherwise.

I'd say that, as long as it's in the dark, it'll keep for months, esp if the glass carboy is your secondary vessel.

Light is definately the thing to protect against. Leaving it on the yeast cake, according to a recent BYO article I read, has no negative impact on the beer flavour, even over quite long periods of time, if you've already racked it to a secondary then you could leave it there for months, you're probably going to need to add some yeast along with the priming sugars anway given the strength of the beer.

hi everyone thank's for the reply and yes the carboyd is the secconed vessel. When i put the ale in the glass carboyd i wrapped the carboyd in a heavy towl i was not sure how long it would last in the carboyd.
