Why most Norwegian Christmas beer looks and tastes like a darker version of the normal beer they make.
Basically because they use 60 % pilsner malt, som munich malt and som chocolate for the colour.
They then use Bugget and Saaz as hops with maybe a little cascade at the end.
The guys at the club did it the other night and it will be ok, bt just a stronger version of the stuff the commercial breweries use.
Sadly they are very stuck in their ways, will not try any new recipes and, will not do batch sparge and totally fefuse to break the tradition and use protofloc instead of Irish moss.
I hope my christmas beer turns out ok.... it might just make them change their minds.
Now i know.....

Re: Now i know.....
Brewing is about making beer not a battle for hearts and minds. If you're happy with the way you do it and they're happy with the way they do it then live and let live IMHO.
Best wishes

Oh i agree..
But they complin that Norwegain ( rest of year beers) taste like crap. They brew either IPA, classic pale ale or a stout as a rule. Yet they have all commented on the things like the Bitter and Twisted... just need a little ndge i guess.

I think they only way you will "educate" them is to brew a better beer yourself and give them plenty of tastes of it until they start wanting to brew something like it themselves!
