using mixed gas on bitter/lager

Post by beesley121 » Tue Oct 27, 2009 9:20 pm

Hi guys,

i made a hob goblin clone 2 months ago and it has been sat in my shed ever since. its in a cornelius keg and i force carbonated it.

now im desperate to get this druck and see how my first all grain brew went but i cannot for the life of me find my co2 regulator. it gotta be in my house somewhere but i just cant find it. anyway my question is, can i use mixed gas to dispense it instead as i have got a mixed gas reg and a mixed gas bottle!! i can alwyas change it when i finally find the co2 regulator.

what do you reckon guys?? what do you think will be the differance

Is there not already enough pressure to dispense?

Some beers (smoothflow / creamflow) use mixed gas I believe so I see no reason why not, it may just be that bit 'smoother'. I certainly wouldn't use it on a lager though!

Mixed gas will be fine, especially as you have already carbonated it with CO2. You probably won't notice any difference for the first part of the keg.

Btw, Parva, I have force carbonated a couple of lagers with mixed gas for no other reason than that is what was handy in the garage (my CO2 is in the utility room for dispense). The lager was pretty good although I acknowlege that it is an unusual use for moxed gas....
