BIAB method

Post by 400d » Mon Nov 02, 2009 3:35 pm

I am considering crushing my grains to the point of flour, almost powder. I will use BIAB method, and increase the efficiency rate a lot. I've read some people said that it really doesn't matter, and that they didn't feel any difference or off flavours. I will not use MLT so I really don't see a reason why not to do it...

Maybe there is somebody out there who will make me change my mind.....

After you've lifted the bag it will take a bit longer to drain, apart from that I can't see why it won't work. It would be difficult to mill so fine that net curtain gets clogged up. If someone comes up with lots of negatives, why not just do a smaller trial brew? I haven't done BIAB for quite some time but I keep the curtain handy just in case of trouble during a batch or fly sparge and I have to drain the mash somehow.
I brew therefore I ... I .... forget
