Another dumb question from me.

Post by Deebee » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:47 pm

Seeing that i have absolutely no wheat left i am trying to come up with something that i might be able to use for head retention in a brew i am doing this evening!

I am using Thomas fawcett pale only.

The local supermarket sells whole crushed wheat corn, but this is a lot lighter in colour to the wheat malt i have seen.

My question is can i use this for head retention and if so is the 10% max amount still the rule.

i also have the chance to use some flaked oats instead but understand this is likely to cause a haze.

Can someone gimme an answer. brew evening draws nigh........

Wheat flakes could be substituted, do you have a health food shop nearby?

I'm sure i'll get slated for this, but I have used Wheat Bran, from the supermarket. The brew didn't suffer any adverse effects, although i cannot say if it helped it any.
