Ive had a brew in 1st fermenter for the last 5 days
no fermentation seems to have started
after 2 days i pitched another muntons gold in and still no reaction.
the recipe is for 2 gallons of amber ale from the durden beer park (Mr faunes amber ale)
10lb 6oz of amber malt with 2 2/3 oz of fuggles.
OG was 1065 and this has not changed.
any ideas as to why it wont start and is it worth trying something else to get it going
thanks
karl
fermentation will not start on an amber ale
Re: fermentation will not start on an amber ale
My guess is you've got dead yeast. Chuck a packet of Nottingham or 04 and keep your fingers crossed. You run a serious risk of contamination with no yeast activity in five days.
