fermentation temp
fermentation temp
I just got my fermenter set up and the temp in there is holding at 19 degrees,I know this as i put a max min thermomteter in a fermenter full with water. Is this ok for temp.it will be for ale.
Re: fermentation temp
19 is an excellent temperature for ales. Above 20, some ale yeasts produce 'esters' which can give fruity overtones to the ale that you don't always want, and if you get too cold the yeast can get drowsy and drop off to sleep
I find that for my UK style ales, 18 to 20 is the sweet spot.
