Anyone mashed with banana chips? Or used them in a brew at all? I like the sound of it BUT what affect would the Vegetable Oil have on the beer

Product Ingredients
All Ingredients 100% Organic.

It would kill any head retention. However, you could put plain bananas in the mash. I don't know what that would be like.
Now I may have to try Wells Banana Bread ale when I'm in the mood for something different.
Sommeliers recommend that you swirl a glass of wine and inhale its bouquet before throwing it in the face of your enemy.

:D

Could dry my own in the oven or add them to the mash, just a thought anyway

The oil on the chips will kill your head...I have toyed with the idea of a banana brew for sometime however after doing a lot of research I decided not to carry through as so many people say that the actual banana character doesn't carry through well.

Why would you use dried bananas rather than fresh?

I have recently made a banana stout, here is the process i used:

-Make a standard stout and run primary fermentation until it is mostly through.
-Rack to another FV and add bananas
-Let it ferment again (took about 5 days for me and i didn't need to pitch yeast again)

How i prepared the bananas:

-Chop 1.5 kilos of bananas into slices
-Put them in a big pan and ad 1 litre of water
-Sprinkle half a teaspoon of sodium meta on it (could use 1 campden tab)
-Bring it to the boil and simmer it for 15 minutes
-Let it cool
-Add it to FV

Sterility of this process was fine (obviously, or i wouldn't be advising it!). There is a bit of a banana taste, but as usual with natural flavourings, it is very hard to get the flavour to come through. If i were to do it again i might double the banana input to 3 kilos. There is a lot of fructose in 3kg of bananas, so expect quite a strong ale!
