Calling all Berkshire Brewers !

Post by Chard » Fri Jan 08, 2010 2:24 pm

Im planning the big leap... no... the drunken stumble into AG brewing this year. i was hoping to find someone fairly local to me (Wokingham, Berkshire) that i could visit on an AG brew day to help me understand the process.

i would be willing to drive a reasonable distance and bring some homebrew (at the mo im drinking Amazing Belgian Christmas ale albeit from a humble kit) to uphold the golden rule. Hopefully someone out there can help

happy new years too!

You're not a million miles away from both the North Hants Group who meet in Basingstoke (website: http://www.northhantsbrewers.org.uk/) - maybe worth dropping them a line and seeing if there's a local brewer who can help you out :).

And there's the guide on here in the Tips and Hints section that does a pretty good job of explaining the basic process 8)

Hi,

I live in Wokingham but I don't know when I'll next have the chance to do a brew. Probably be late February. I've met a few other homebrewers through the local CAMRA group http://www.seberkscamra.org.uk/index.shtml . The North Hants Brewers are worth checking out too. I went to a few of their meetings back in 2007 and they are a nice bunch.

I Live in maidenhead in berks, have done a few AG and at the moment experimenting with partial mashes.

If other Berkshireans (?) raise their heads perhaps we could arrange a meet? All bring some ingredients, some equipment, do a big batch together and split the wort. There will doubtlessly be mash temperature arguments etc but would be a great experience! I've heard Americans on other forums who've done it and It sounds like a really nice way to spend a day.

my non homebrewing mates are getting a bit bored of my lectures I think, would be nice to meet some other brewers! :D

Wont be doing another brew for another fortnight or so.

Hi chaps,
I'm in Spencer's Wood, but won't be brewing again till next month. I'd be keen to meet up with some like-minded Berkshirians, so perhaps we could all get together in Feb as jon suggests.

That's a lot of brewers. Anyone got a 30 gallon mash tun we could use? ;-)

Wow! what a great response. I tried to set it up so that i got an email every time someone posted but i guess that didnt work. If you are all on Facebook maybe we could set up a group?

also i dont think there is a collective term for people from berkshire and berkshirians is a bit of a mouthful so i recon simply 'Berks' is probably the best option :)

so if any of you berks fancy showing me a brewday id be very keen. Keep me posted and PM or email me.

thanks!

When I pop down and see my sister and family I could bring a couple of beers down for a beer swap!
