can anyone recommend

a good homebrew shop with online ordering.

I am particulalry interested in peoples recommendation for a AG supplier with all other bit of accessories etc. I have had a bad experiance with one shop and did not get much sympathy when I expressed my dissapointment.

What I need is a shop which has goods actually in stock (rather than waiting ages for the stuff to come in after the order has been placed), good quality crushed grain and a decent track record on dispatching the order.

There are loads of shops out there and I know most try their best to give good service. It could be that the shop I was dissatisfied with is really ok and I was unlucky to suffer a rare blip.

thanks

Barleybottom takes first place for grain, hops, yeast and a limited but very fairly priced range of sundries. Quality of packaging and speed of delivery is excellent.

For other items that are not stocked at Barleybottom, the second placed on-line home brew shop for me is The Home Brew Shop, which can be found in the Links box in the top right-hand corner of JBK.

Only bought mail-order homebrew stuff from one place - yep you've guessed it,Barley Bottom - after reading endorsements on this very forum. Must say the service is first class, prices very good and most importantly the quality of goods is fabulous (puts any HB shop I've visited to shame). Now I'm not saying that there isn't anyone as good if not better out there, but to be honest I'm not tempted to look....

Barley Bottom for ingredients, Hop & Grape for equipment. H&G do good ingredients too but the hop prices can't compete.

I'd add one caveat to that though, when looking at BBs hop price in comparison to H&Gs you need to take into consideration that BBs are 100g on the dot where as the gold foil packages that H&G typically sell have about 140g of hops (despite being labelled 100g), when you then do the math there isn't that much in it in many cases. He wins hands down on the more exoctic hops such as centennial and amarillio, H&G sell these in silver foil packages (100g) from brupaks at a pretty hefty price.

Overall BB provides an excellent service and all his prices are very good (especially yeast and some of the speciality grains), i rarely look elsewhere these days, im glad to see that his business is doing well and that he's expanding :D

Ahh good point.

From memory I get more like 130g. The Brupaks 'silver foil' are definately 100g though. £8 for 100g of Centennial on H&G vs £4.79 on BB.

I was thinking the same thing myself :D i was editing my reply to reflect this while you must have been replying, i see we both homed in on the centennial, his price kicks the ass out of the brupaks from H&G.

Was mostly using H&G but have just had an order from Barley Bottom. BB are now the top of my list, easy to order, good emails, fast delivery, top quality ingredients and fast delivery! Says it all really. :D

Nothing wrong with H&G but I was just so impressed with the service from BB that they will get most of my money now.
If I had all the money I'd spent on brewing... I'd spend it on brewing!

thanks everyone for your thoughts. Looks like I will be placing an order first thing with BB, will also check out H&G site.

I am really annoyed with my current order as it was supposed to arrive yesterday and didnt and then was told today and didnt. havent recieved any info. Looks like I wont be able to brew for another week.

I do like it when you order foil packed hops and you get loads more than expected.
