I rack to secondary once the FG remains stable for one day, usually after 3-4 days. A compact yeast bed is the main signal for racking for me.

Personally, I've always felt that it would be better to transfer to the 2nd before the activity in the fv ends completely.
I think that waiting until it has stopped altogether could mean that the secondary has little more to do.
The benefit of racking is to escape the dead yeast, in order to get a clearer end product - having said that
I tend to let a little of the yeast get into the 2nd thru the syphon.

Hi ok so as for the wyest i take it is a bottom yeast my 2 brews are only a day old lots of movement, so when you syphon the second rack you syphon some wyeast up from the bottom as well yes Hmmmm
Thanks
