Mash today, boil tomorrow?

Post by dedken » Sat Jun 26, 2010 4:41 pm

hi all,

Wondering if there is anything intrinsically wrong with mashing and sparging this afternoon and continuing with the boil tomorrow morning to save time (have to go out this evening)? I woul pressume that if I leave the wort covered it will be ok, especially as it has to be boiled anyway?

Shouldn't be a problem. You could just leave the mash overnight and sparge in the morning, that way you wont be waiting as long for the cooled wort to get back to the boil. :)

Coola boola. I mashed (at the wrong bleedin' temperature) and sparged Saturday and then boiled on Sunday. Cooled during England half-time, drained at fulltime. I was so distracted during this brew lord know's how it turn out!

A balls up of a kind yes. What I actually did was heat the strike water to 82 instead of 72 (which I didn't realise until I'd doughed-in (and there was no room for more cold water)) and it took me 35 minutes to get the temperature down to 66. Sparging went well though... And it smells good fermenting at 19C, so - fingers crossed, eh [-o<
