Arrogant Bastard is f*cking delicious if you're into big citrusy hop flavours.. It has a strong grapefruit character from the Chinooks.

I'm fermenting a AIPA now that's 50/50 Chinook/Amarillo and from the tasters I've had so far, it's a winning combination. I'm getting grapefruit and a bit of pineapple from it.

I had a few pints of "Chinook" in the local last weekend - was fabulous. Made by Oakham Ales and contains only said hop

I love Chinook, certainly wouldn't hesitate to use 100%. Not everyone does like it though, some people say it's harsh.

I've got a Chinook/Bobek/Amarillo brew conditioning at the momnet. It is the first time that I have used chinook but from the quick taster as it went into the keg, I think that It'll be a good sumer beer.

Chinook's a good hop - tonnes of grapefruit and interchangable with Cents & Amarillo. I've just done a 100% amarillo and its tasting good although will need a little longer in the bottle (maybe 5-6 weeks) to really level out that bitterness. But it's worth it.
Also, if using dried yeast, use the old favourite US05 - loves those sorts of hop profiles.

Chinook goes really well in an American Cream Ale - the lager you have when you haven't got time for a lager
I use Pilsener or Lager malt, 20% flaked maize and only a single addition of Chinook - say 25g or 30g for a 60 minute boil. And US-05. It's amazing how much hop character shines through even though no late additions.

The other brilliant hop for a fake lager is Galena, the hop of Corona.

Knowing that something is used in Corona would tend to put me off it, to be honest. Even water starts to seem suspect when you know it's an ingredient of Corona.

However it's a good way of getting lager lads interested in home brewing if you put on a cornie of the stuff at a party or BBQ "Oooooh did you actually make this yourself?" - Yes 40p a litre
Then you see the lights starting to switch on. 8)

I did a 100% Chinook brew here.

It turned out ok, but realy quite harsh and not particularly grapefuity, which is what I hoped for.

If I were to do it again, I think I'd get the IBUs from a different hop(or just much much less chinook), using chinook to flavour/aroma.

Let us know if you try it!
