Re: recipe help
Hi Gjb123
I'm no expert but I can't see much wrong with the grain bill. Not used Cascade hops but I'm sure they'll be fine.
As long as your method is sound ( although mine would have some of the more experienced on here pulling their hair out ) and you maintain a good cleaning regime, you'll almost always brew good beer. It's just down to personal taste, whatever you brew I'm sure you'll enjoy drinking it
Cheers Tom

Re: recipe help
grain is fine - if you've used cascade before and thoes loadings then fine. Cascade is a big amerikan hop and if you haven't used it it can be over powering, in which case I'd suggest cutting it with a good aroma hop. I've had success mixing cascade with liberty, or willamette or challenger - so anything golding derived would be ok
Re: recipe help
ive had 2 brews with all cascade hops and i think they are fantastic. they give the kind of flavour present in kelham island pale/easy rider which i have been trying to replicate since i started brewing.
now i've found it i always have a blonde all MO malt all cascade brew. its delicious

Re: recipe help
Hi all thanks for getting back to me,no i havent used cascade before, as its a big hop would it work to cut the quanties down a bit to still make a single hop brew and if it would what would you recomend.Kay-jay what amounts of cascade and what time-ings do you use for your blonde i like the sound of that just m.o and cascade sorry for all the questions gareth.
Re: recipe help
Personally i'd whack all the hops in at the end, unless you are specifically looking for a very bitter ale.
Lots of cascade right at the end makes a lovely tasty ale.
I'd probably divide it into 3 and then put them in at 15m, 5m and flame out.

Re: recipe help
Hmm, if you have the torri and crystal already, go with your original grain bill unless there is a good reason not to. I think you will appreciate the minor changes that these add.
Although it will be fine with just MO if you want to keep it simple at this stage.

Re: recipe help
What sort of temperature were you aiming for the mash?
The original recipe looks like it will give a reasonable bitterness, might need a high(ish) mash temp to balance the beer.
I wouldn't alter the recipe though looks great! best of luck and let us all know how it goes.
