Mixing 2 beers?

Hi everyone,

Last year's Christmas spiced beer turned out great, however it was slightly 'medicinal'. So I thought with this years I'd slightly reduce the spices and add some raisins for a bit of Christmas puddingyness.

However, I've just tried a bottle after a months bottle conditioning....and it's far too raisiny for my liking. Other than that it's a nice clear dark spiced porter.

Now, I also have about 10 bottles of IPA that turned out too dry. My digital thermometer had been 'tidied up' so I had to use an inaccurate cooking thermometer and I suspect the mash temp was too high.

The dryness and the sweetness just might cancel each other out. Got 20 bottles of Xmas, 10 of the IPA. Both made with S04 & fuggles.

I'm thinking of sticking both lots of beer in a corny to see what will happen. It may work, it may not....but worth a try rather than throwing it down the sink?

Anyone done this before?

Yes, you can blend beers but it's probably better to try it out in the glass first to get an idea of the proportions of each one you want to use.

Yep, good idea.
I shall have a percentage experiment to see which is best...or if it will actually taste any good:)

This is going to be fun.
One for me, two for you. Remember to take notes, you could wake up in the morning with a pile of empty bottles and a vague recollection that two of your mixes were really good.

Hehe, reminds me of the night I decided to find out what my favourite whisky was :)
