Bottling a couple from the Keg

Post by JontyR » Fri Nov 19, 2010 4:58 pm

I'll be kegging my 1st AG brew this weekend and will be wanting a couple of bottles to give away as well. If I prime my keg with 50g sugar and then fill a couple of bottles from the tap on the keg, would there be sufficient sugar in the beer to get a secondary fermentation in the bottles?

Thanks

Assuming that the priming sugar is well mixed then it should be fine. :D
If I had all the money I'd spent on brewing... I'd spend it on brewing!

Thats what I've just started doing, It's a right pain when using King Keg Top Taps though. You either need a really big batch of beer to get above the tap, or tip the Keg up or some CO2, which is just what you don't need when bottling. I have now found the downside to the King Keg Top Tap.

Remember to both sterilise your bottles 'and' your caps :)

Thanks! I've just carried the keg and 6 bottles back into my office for a few days at 20 degrees before they go out into the garage to condition.

I think 'Conditioning' or 'Condition' is whats referred to as the carbonation of the beer, what happens after is its maturation :) Though I suppose they can be one and the same.

Warm conditioning followed by Cold conditioning, or something like that, I usually give my bottles a minimum of 1 week, usually 2 weeks of Warm conditioning before moving them to the garage.
