Dose anyone know who is selling the cheapest beer brewing kits for ales (not larger) in the UK at the moment

Hi MS!

I presume that you mean ready made all-grain kits rather than the just-add-water extract kits?

If so then Worcester Hop Shop do kits for many different beers for Â£10 or Â£11 a go plus postage CLICK

cheap normally equals nasty......

think youve really got to spend up to and over 20 quid for a two can kit

edme, youngs, coopers, john bull, et al are all a bit "meh" imo

or just fire it off and come over to the dark side, its great here

the woodfordes st. peters and milestone are all made by muntons. i used woodfords, the muntons kits,or brewferm or brewpacks kits with some spraymalt instead of sugar, when i couldnt be bothered digging out the mashtun.been quite a few years since ive done a kit.once the dark sides got you.........

ive found its always wise to swerve any brewing product with youngs written on it

Wilkinsons sold Woodforde's Wherry at Â£15 for ages. It was about Â£18 the last time I looked in a Nottingham branch, but still a damn good buy if you don't want to invest the time and effort go to all-grain.

A kit which contains two cans

! Ahem,sorry. They contain around 3Kg of malt extract as opposed to the usual kits 1.5 or 1.8Kg where you are instructed to chuck in half a ton of cheap and nasty white sugar to attain a reasonable ABV at the expense of flavour/body/mouthfeel/general quality. Avoid! The contents of the two-can kits are the same in each... suppose they do it to make it a more manageable package. They require no additional sugar. The Woodforde's Wherry one I made about 3 years back was really rather good IIRC.

If you have a Morrisons near you call in and see what they have. Before the dark side got me (yesterday) i bought a load of Tom Caxtons and Geordie kits from there and they turned out pretty well to be honest. At the end of the day its lager so only fizzy water
