Free access to the Journal of the Institute of Brewing

Post by Naich » Wed Mar 28, 2012 1:45 pm

I don't know how many people know this, but the Journal of the Institute of Brewing is currently giving "Temporary free public access to both abstracts and full papers". I don't know how long temporary is but there is a hell of a lot of stuff on there, so get reading!

Ok, "Sensory Characteristics of Romanian, Polish, Albanian and Former Yugoslavian Beers" for example, doesn't really hit the spot. Anything you've found particularly interesting? Throw us a bone here. ;)

(just come back from the pub, so looking for short cuts)

Try this longterm repitching of yeast

or this 1896 cold storage of hops page 537

Unfortunately there is probably only one interesting paper per annum published now.

Interesting stuff (well to me) would be Martins 1936 paper on determining carbon dioxide in beer using a strange piece of glass apparatus and about 10lb of mercury. This is of course not available on the site.

It's been 'temporary' free access for ages, but as people have said not much is of interest. However, the recent series of '125th anniversary' papers are, and I thought the original Horace Brown lecture from 1916 was fascinating.
