I brewed this the other month
3.36kg MO
0.90kg Wheat (flaked)
0.90kg Munich
0.34kg Dark Crystal
25l
1.051 OG
1.010 FG
50 IBU
10g summit @ 90min
30g NS @ 10min
70g NS 30min steep at 80c
US-05
First thing, the beer tastes good but strange, i've used the same hop profile loads of times with other malts but this time i wanted a bit more malt profile so i reduced the MO to about 60%.
I've used this ammount of munich before and the same with crystal but i've never put 16% wheat in (using up stocks i suppose and it's giving some head too), from the fermenter the taste was totally different from anything i did before the beer had a strange taste and the only thing i could think similar was black sheep ale (quite sure they use a high proportion of wheat).
Anyway the taste has mellowed a bit now but it's there in the background and next time i dont think i'll add any.
Dont like the wheat!

Re: Dont like the wheat!
That's the great thing about this game. I love the mouth feel from Flaked Wheat and use it in most of my brews.
I buy from The Malt Miller
