I'm tucking a corny of kolsch away in a mates fridge to lager for a month or so, so looking for some advice from experienced lager makers:
What do you pressurise the corny to?
How often do you check on it?
Anything else I need to think about?
Cheers.
Advice for a first time lagerererer
Re: Advice for a first time lagerererer
Whatever's right for style (I often go to 20 or 30 psi then just leave it to absorb) | when it's time to drink it (what other 'checking' is there
?) | no - apart from obvious sanitation and leak checks
Enjoy - lovely beer style... Off to Cologne in the summer and looking forward to trying brewery tab fresh!

You got a slant of Kolsch yeast I could have a crack at chap? - can't seem to find any in the usual places ...
Re: Advice for a first time lagerererer
No mate, sorry, chucked all my slurry away too (it looks mighty weird). AFAIK Ali has an unopened but out of date vial (same batch as mine). You may be able to persuade him to part with it in exchange for a replacement once it's back in stock. I know he plans to slant it at some point.SamT wrote:<hijack>Capn Ahab wrote:I'm tucking a corny of kolsch away in a mates fridge to lager for a month or so, so looking for some advice from experienced lager makers:

Re: Advice for a first time lagerererer
Thanks Steve. Gonna go for about 20 psi and check it's maintaining pressure periodically.lancsSteve wrote:Whatever's right for style (I often go to 20 or 30 psi then just leave it to absorb) | when it's time to drink it (what other 'checking' is there?) | no - apart from obvious sanitation and leak checks

If its going in your mates fridge and not being continually hooked up I'd go for 30 psi as it will absorb the pressure. 17psi if CO2 is always on.
