oakham clone

Post by alecleric » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:35 pm

Hi everyone.. im looking for a bit of advice .. ive brewed an all grain oakham clone and its been fermenting for a week.i have just checked the gravity and its about 1010.. i was wondering if its ready to put in my stainless steel keg,the original gravity when i had chilled it before pitching was 1046..this is suggesting that fermentation is over.would i be correct?, also when i keg it should i leave it a few days before putting CO2/Nitrogen mixed gas into the keg? any help would be gratefully received :)

i take two readings over 2 days if there the same then you know its finished. as for kegging before i rack it off to a corny i leave it in the fv in my fridge at 10oc for a week to drop as much yeast out of suspension as possible the transfer it to a corny and force carbonate it, but i only use co2 not a mixed gas

Ok.. thanks for your input.. unfortunately i dont have a cold enough place to keep it,so would leaving it in the fermentor for another week help to settle out all the yeast still in suspension?...or perhaps if i kegged it and added finings then left it for a week or so.. i did notice the sample was cloudy. i must get myself a cheap second hand fridge i guess :) the reading incidentally is the same so im sure its finished fermenting.
