Hi all
I brewed an American-style IPA some weeks ago. Left it in a barrel for a month then bottled (3 weeks ago). Should be about ready to drink by now, but my problem is that I forgot to add Irish Moss. I have a couple of pints in clear bottles and its obvious that the beer isn't anywhere near clear. What do I do? Open them all and put the beer into a barrel with some finings, leave them as they are and hope they clear, or give up now and chuck it all and start again (I need more bottles, so don't have spares).
Thoughts, comments etc very welcome.
Thanks
Mark

Re: I forgot the Irish Moss
Hi Mark
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most beer will clear eventually, and clear beer is largely a cosmetic thing. I would open a bottle and taste it. If it tastes OK then drink it and maybe put some to one to clear over time.

I made an APA with a lot of Simcoe and even though I used Irish moss/Protofloc it still didn't clear. It tastes great though so I don't worry.

Yep, done that!
It did clear after about a month in the bottle.

AIPA's tend to be hazy due to the amount of hops used, another memeber of the forum consider's the haze to be a mark of a good IPA. It'll be fine.

Thanks all. I did have a bottle last week and it tastes ok, so I'll try to be patient.

Dry hopping can also cause a bit of haze.koomber wrote:AIPA's tend to be hazy due to the amount of hops used, another memeber of the forum consider's the haze to be a mark of a good IPA. It'll be fine.
I'm just here for the beer.
