Help on making beer from scratch

Post by Brewbitz » Sat Sep 28, 2013 9:55 pm

hi all.

Before I buy in and malts, hops, mashtuns, etc, for the shop, I suppose it would be a good idea to make beer from scratch. something I have never done. I've always used kits for the beer.

Any experienced beer brewers near Frome fancy coming round and helping me make a brew?

I could give you a hand if you like. I have done thirty odd all-grain brews with both BIAB and three vessel equipment. I don't see myself as an expert by any means as there is always more to learn but I will certainly be able to go through a brew with you.

PM me if you are interested.

Cheers!

Jim

EDIT: I am just outside Trowbridge. :D

Read this, http://www.howtobrew.com/.
then read it again. and again. and again. Take notes, PLAN your build/purchases. Decide how big (or small) a batch you want to make, remember, you are only limited by the amount of fermentation tanks you have, so bigger is not necessarily better. Decide what you will do with your new baby, (finding a home for 100L of beer is not easy)

Once you've had a read of that, and actually thought a bit more about what you want in terms of size, come on here and clear up any issues then get cracked on :D
best of luck,
Cooky
