Lazy Kegging!

Post by Chicken Dipper » Wed Apr 16, 2014 8:57 pm

So normally I clean everything to within an mill of its life! But I just kegged a Hop Head Clone without removing the tap from my king keg. Don't get me wrong I cleaned it thoroughly but was in a bit of a rush so skipped removing the tap with the thought that it must be sealed up tight so nothing can get behind it, and I gave it some serious bleach!

So I was wondering if anyone else is a bit of a lazer when it comes to Kegging :?:

I have only removed the tap once or twice other the last few years and have never had an infection in my keg.

I've got 2 King Kegs and have never once removed the taps for cleaning, just running some VWP through them seems to do the trick :-)

+1

I wash my kegs with washing up liquid, rinse, then a quick swill with Oxy clean, another couple of rinses and, finally, a swill with Starsan.

With every wash or rinse I drain through the tap so it gets a good clean. I almost never remove it for fear of stripping the threads or creating a leak.

My fv and cornies as get washed with a cleaner and then i dump about 3-4liters of starsan in and shake the living crap out of it. Run some through the taps and thats it.
