A good beer for when it's warm
A good beer for when it's warm
Getting withdrawal symptoms. Can anyone advise on what I can brew in this weather without a brew fridge? The cupboard I ferment in is fairly stable temperature wise and is hovering around 23c. Befuddler bought be a bottle of Unholy Monk which I loved. Would using https://www.wyeastlab.com/hb_yeaststrai ... .cfm?ID=51 or something similar allow me a crack at a clone? I'm towards the top end of the temp range here.

Re: A good beer for when it's warm
Saison! not only the best beer to brew in this weather, but the best to drink! i just did one with WLP568 Saison Blend yeast and it was ready in no time (including bottle conditioning). Linky: http://rowettbrewing.com/new-brewery-saison-brewday/

Re: A good beer for when it's warm
yeah i've "tried" about twelve bottles. i reckon it's one of my best ever beers. final gravity is a bit low at 1.000, would've preferred it to finish around 1.004, but as it is it goes down like water despite being 7% ABV....refreshing indeed...DeadFall wrote:Looks great. Re: A good beer for when it's warm
I'm planning to brew an almost identical Saison this weekend! Though I will use the zest from a couple of grapefruit instead if the curacao orange peel. Also I'm going with the Lallemand dried Saison Yeast as I CBA with liquid yeast.

Liquid saison yeasts are out of stock at my usual places so I might have to go dry. I'll be doing this around the 13th august now as I've just been given a shedload of stuff to do. Was planning on adding an orange or too cut into quarters about 5 mins into the boil too. Or maybe some shredded dried apricots.Rick_UK wrote:I'm planning to brew an almost identical Saison this weekend!
