Dirty head!

I made a new world IPA late last year, 80% MO, 15% Munich, 5% crystal, with Chinook, citra & Nelson Sauvin using wlp001 yeast.

Could be tweaked here and there flavour wise but all in all a pretty good brew.

However, the main thing I'm not happy with is the head on the beer. It's got a brown / yellow tinge to it and it sticks to the glass like papier mache scraps. Would some wheat malt help clean it up?

Looks a good beer a wouldn't worry about the head. The colour will be because of the crystal malt and Munich but you've used two high alpha acid hops which will be why it retains and seems sticky "isohumulones".
Some brewers crave that kind of retention.

Thanks for that. Isohumulones are a new one on me, I hadn't realised the link between hop & head before.

I've got another similar brew in the fv at the moment but with no crystal and less Munich so the comparison will be interesting.

looks mighty fine too me too, I suspect the colour of the head is down to the colour of the beer, a stout has a creamy head with a brown tint to it .. And your only noticing it due to the "isohumulones" quality (new to me too that one..)

Brewers can be the harshest critics of their own product.. give yourself a break and enjoy the beer..
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

I got to thinking that way myself as I pondered, I should have opened a bottle of porter as well to make the comparison! Next time... ;)

Cheers
