Hi guys. What do you think of these for hop additions to the boil?

I use something similar (2 ss strainers from the pound shop tied together like a clam with copper wire). It works fine, but it doesn't hold a lot of hops, especially once they start to swell. The largest one in that link is 10x11cm, so that won't hold a great deal either. Fine for lightly hopped ales.....

I was a bit worried about swell volume. Cheers MM

I noticed today that Sainsburys have some stainless steel sieves in their kitchen department about 7 inches in diameter. the rim on then is a stainless ring abot 7-8mm wide. I thought I may be able to drill them and connect via a couple of stainless bolts.

Haven't bought any yet as I bought a stainless container approx 1-1.5 litres with a sealable glass lid and am looking to make a small hopback

if its for during the boil check out the SS hop spiders from http://www.bridgewaterbrewing.co.uk/hop-spiders.html £45 delivered.

and unlike the US originals that have appeared on ebay they are totally free from any blue-ing and weld damage..

the problems i had with the ebay tea strainer clam shell doodaas was the strength of the hinge and catch, i killed one just trying to open it after overfilling.. i wouldnt put much more than 20g in each if you go for em..

they come with a pot lip hook so you can just hang them off the pot wall to sit in the boil very easily, and if less ham fisted /kack handed than me you may get on very well with them too (fingers crossed)
ist update for months n months..
Fermnting: not a lot..
Conditioning: nowt
Maturing: Challenger smash, and a kit lager
Drinking: dry one minikeg left in the store
Coming Soon Lots planned for the near future nowt for the immediate :(

Collie,
Someone on JBK has joined two of these together for his hops.
I can`t find the post, but I`m sure somebody will. :D

On a similar subject has anyone made a hop spider suitable for pellets? They seem fairly expensive.
