Mixing My Drinks

Post by Harrowbrewer » Wed Apr 06, 2016 10:17 pm

I had a clear out of my beer shed this evening and found a number of bottles of leftover beers that for one reason or another have ended up undrunk. So I've had a bit of a mix up. Five bottles of an over-bittered bitter from about six months ago, two bottles of a failed black-cherry porter (too astringent and sweet), two bottles of milk stout (made for a friend and too sickly for my tastes) and two bottles of Woodforde's Wherry (much recommended as a kit, I didn't really like it, still have another dozen bottles somewhere in the garage). All poured gently into a sterilised bucket, mixed up and re-bottled, with a fair amount of tasting on the way. So far so good, its a sort of malty ESB/Porter with a bit of roastiness. No idea what to call it really, but its been a fun experiment!

Blending is a perfectly legit way of ensuring quality and consistency! Ahem.

Nice way of making undrinkable stuff more drinkable, did you prime or just bottle?

Just bottled, I'll see how it develops. The porter was very over-carbonated anyway, so that alone might give it enough fizz.

Commiserations, I'll avoid that combination of drinks. To be fair, I would have avoided it anyway. Hope your collarbone heals soon, I can't think of any other situation which might lead to a drunk man operating a computer with only one hand free….
