Hi guys. I currently have 20L of fresh wort in a chill cube. Due to time I don't have a spare fv, could I use the chill cube? I don't plan to dry hop and have plenty of head space. Thanks, sorry if this is in the wrong place!

Leave it sealed up and open when you have a spare fv the aussies reportly wait months in sum cases.

Ok, thanks SBond. I have a Black Sheep Best Bitter clone that I really want to get my hands on in the cc!
Will have to wait.
Will have to wait.
Re: Fermenting in a chill cube
You could ferment in the no chill cube, but as sbond10 says, the Aussies sometime's leave wort on cubes for ages before transferring to a fermenter.

Re: Fermenting in a chill cube
i'm not understanding why it'd be better to wait than ferment in the cube? cube'll be better sanitised than an FV will be. and seeing as the common FV is just a plastic container anyways.. .. ..!!
chuck the dryhops in as usual - see point above
i guess the one thing some might be concerned with is fermenting on all the break material, but it doesn't seem to bother those with plate and counterflow chillers..
in case you hadn't guessed i've been fermenting in the cube for a while so perhaps find it a little hard to see where the concern would be!!

Re: Fermenting in a chill cube
if you have ample headroom go for it, i ferment in cubes regularly since building a brewfridge too small for traditional buckets.
unless you also aerate it dont expect a rampant start to the fermentation but if maintained at a comfortable temp it should complete ok within a week.

to clean yeast deposits from the handle area inside simply fill with warm water over half full add a scoop of laundry oxy cap and stand upside down for 15 mins before standing upright for 15 mins and emptying and rinsing..

Looks good! I have a cube I don't use any more so that's another excuse to get another brew on!
