Double milled
I just brewed a bitter and double milled the grains. Instead of the expected 1.036 I got 1.040. The same grainbill with a single run through the mill last time got 1.035.
I'm just here for the beer.
Re: Double milled
If I remember correctly you have a Schmidling malt mill. What is the gap between the rollers ?

A Schmidling Mill, Good work Rookie.
That was my preferred mill, if I was going to crush. I was impressed by the "perfect" fixed 1.1mm crush, but got in a pickle on the old braumeister forum about crush sizes. And so never did get one.
I then read some research into crush size and it seemed, one size fits not fit all. So I retreated back into buying crushed.
Is it worth sieving some to see whats happening?
It scares me a little that the "perfect mill" might be wrong
I might have to go and have a lay down now

Re: Double milled
No, a Barley Crusher. The gap is a credit card thickness.
I'm probably going to adjust it a little bit smaller.
