First the HLT tripped the electrics so when I strolled in to garage bleary eyed at 6am water was at 40c only.

Then during the boil the element kept switching off. Tried to remove cut off with it in situ to no avail. Ended up decanting near boiling wort in to my HLT and replaced element. Eventually finished before forgetting the molasses.

Now to the point of the post. A good rolling simmer was taking place, 100c was being achieved before element switched off and about 98c when it kicked back in. Would this have been sufficient if I hadn't had the luxury of a spare element
