CBA National Craft Beer Festival and Competition
Re: CBA National Craft Beer Festival and Competition
I've just had a meeting on the Bristol Homebrew Competition.
We are prepared to take this on as a national competition, running as the British Homebrew Competition. Might this work for people?

Absolutely! I was planning on entering a few beers in both (if there was to be a CBA national!) Nice work!

Thanks for the link! I'd heard this mentioned at the 'Spring Thing' competition last weekend but didn't get any details. It certainly looks promising.phatboytall wrote:Its hereWhat's the Bristol competition?

In the absence of a national its looking like becoming a big event. Will be great to see a new event succeed.
I'll be there for my first ever comp![]()

Re: CBA National Craft Beer Festival and Competition
And this is where the CBA falls down, with the local groups not passing stuff on to members, but not putting someone forward from the 'committee' either.unclepumble wrote:It was forwarded to all the regional group organisers to forward on to its members at their discretion, if you email your local group organiser they may forward you a copy, thats Bill in your case Adrian.pdtnc wrote:Likewise.coatesg wrote:I'm a CBA member and haven't been forwarded details, unless I missed it in the last brewers contact...?
Not sure who yours is graham.
Again the issue is that the CBA is not just about 'Internet' brewers but others who don't have access to a computer, and trying to 'mailshot' those members to keep them informed is difficult/expensive. . . . So we rely on them turning up to local meetings and getting the information passes (or not) that way . . . or they may not even attend local meetings.
The CBA website will be undergoing a revamp soon . . . and we will be creating a few members only 'opt in' mailing/announcement lists which hopefully will start to resolve issues like this. . . . No it will not be Yet Another Brewing Forum

Re: CBA National Craft Beer Festival and Competition
There are already a couple of good forums that could have a CBA announcements / News updates sections (with or without comments allowed). I'm sure that could be working within days should someone ask.
btw, I'm not going to ask for information that I should have already been given. Its not all that important for life and I'm sure I'll survive

We have a similar problem with a charitable trust I am involved with. Many of the members are fairly old and a reasonable chunk of them don't, can't or won't use the internet. They are always complaining that they are not kept up to date. The irony is that they get the same quarterly newsletter that they always got and they can still attend the monthly meetings like they always have but it's just that other members get to see the news and updates every few weeks, either via email or via the web site. It's hard to please everyone and it's just not practical to send out paper newsletters on a more regular basis. There is not really a solution, apart from time...
Re: CBA National Craft Beer Festival and Competition
The wheels have now been set in motion to run this as the National Homebrew Competition this year. Details will remain the same, the name will just be different and the rosettes will say National. It should be noted that at present this is not a CBA event, and it will continue to be run in accordance with the BJCP guidelines, procedures and rules.leedsbrew wrote:alikocho wrote:I've just had a meeting on the Bristol Homebrew Competition.

Brilliant news and hopefully the Malt Miller will be there, Rob?

Fantastic! It's nice to see event organisers listening to home brewers and trying to accommodate ideas into existing plans!
I can't think if a better way to make people want to enter the comp! Well done chaps! Now time to get brewing!

Not a problem, and it was always part of the plan to have this be an event that was meant to be inclusiveleedsbrew wrote:Fantastic! It's nice to see event organisers listening to home brewers and trying to accommodate ideas into existing plans!
Re: CBA National Craft Beer Festival and Competition
Great news. Was dissapointed that the CBA national was not going to happen, last year was such a great day in Skipton. Now we have the Bristol competition
Now, what to brew for entry...?
