Hi Delboy. I plan to be there on the Saturday. Yes its a pity its at the Kings Hall again, I much prefer it at the Ulster Hall. Still hopefully next year it will be back there. :D

Planning on going on friday and saturday, i meant to volunteer for this years event but never got around to it (maybe next year). As far as i know the ulster hall should be done up in time for next year so with a bit of luck this will be the last year at the kings hall (its a bit soulless really).

Obviously if you overhear someone pontificating about their homebrew being as good or better :P that'll be me

Hope to see tomorrow :D

A fellow Belfast man gave these as his top three to day

top three -

1. Old Bear Bruin - tons of flavour for only 3.5%. I could have happily drunk this all day... (don't expect a Belgian Bruin though)
2. Sarah Hughes - Hugely quaffable dark mild. Lives up to the hype...
3. Wickwar Station Porter - excellent full flavoured porter..

Enjoy

The best bits
Lots of choice
Friendly staff
Had a great time catching up with people

The worst

The venue (its basically a shed with zero accustics)
The music (its always pants)
The price of the beer, £3 a pint and an admission fee on top to pay of that
The catering, truely awful overpriced food.

TBH if its in the kings hall/shed again next year i'll probably give it a miss, if they get it back to the ulster hall though thats a different matter.

Yea had a great day to and a really great selection of ales, have to admit the food was pretty bad and the lack of water in the venue did not help either

OB did you get to help out behind the bar? I didn't hear any barstaff with southern accents, did see a guy dandering round though with a Irish craft brewer T-shirt on.

Totally agree the venue is crap and £3.20 for a revolting burger was rip off.

Great Beers though, finaly got to try the Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild this year which was all gone by the Saturday last year, but it was worth the wait.

Have to mention the staff who were first rate, always had suggestions on what to try next and just good general banter. =D>

I also spotted the guy in the Irish Craft Brewers T- Shirt.

I will be there again next year, just please let it be back in the Ulster Hall. [-o<
