London Amateurs - new Brewing Club

Post by spearmint-wino » Tue Sep 11, 2007 10:47 pm

London area brewers it is time to stand up and be counted! :D
(that includes commuters from the Home Counties that work 'in town' and want to come along too).

From AntHayes (UKHomebrew):
There will be a meeting on 10th October at 6pm in The Cooperage (48-50 Tooley Street SE1 2SZ - down the road from London Bridge station here) to discuss setting up a central London based brewing club.

I've been chatting to Ant and he has a wealth of experience and some great ideas for getting this one up and running. Let him (or failing that me I guess) know if you can make it along.

(MODS: can we make this a lil' sticky for a while? 8) )

Hi there Spearmint, I may be in town that night, though at the moment I am not too sure. If I am would it be OK to tootle over?

I'll put it in the diary!

EDIT: as the meet is going to be at London Bridge, and all attendees will be by definition beer lovers, mightn't it be better to meet across the road at the Market Porter, one of the best real ale pubs in London? Might help with the inspiration!

The Cooperage is a wine bar and the only beer is rebadged Courage

Wednesday: Visit Pub, write about it, drink Beer.
Thursday: Meet Long Armed Goon, Have a Beer
Friday: It's Friday! Drink beer.

I would also prefer the MP over the cooperage any day, but its super-busy and as this is the kick-off meeting to decide on how things move forward I guess it needs to be a little more organised than just a real-ale piss-up. Like you say, the 'porter is only a stumble away so it can always happen after the 'serious' bit... ;)

As the meet has been advertised as being in The Cooperage in a few different places now to avoid confusion I think its best to keep it as is, for this meeting at least 8)

Well we shouldn't stop it from ending off that way :D

I'm definitely going to put this down in my diary. You can count me as there but I'll have to confirm later if SWMBO wants to come. Maybe we should meet quarterly and all.

I think we should actively encourage it :)

Definitely a suggestion to bring along although I'm guessing it might already be a point on the agenda... 8)

S/HWMBOs are definitely welcome too, as long as they don't make us pour all OUR homebrew down the sink

How astonished will you be if a block with long curly brown hair and a wet nose walks in?

There's going to be an agenda? Will someone be taking minutes? :)
Will we circulate a newsletter soon? :o

P.S. If there really is an agenda, put "beer shed's" on it :D

The nose is not as wet as it once was  I am hoping I shall be around, as a couple of days latter I shall be down at the Excel Centre working with some bloody crimpers for a week, and I think a meet would lift the spirits

I would have loved to have come along but I am booked up that night.

Just out of interest or for your info, has anyone been to the tiny tiny tiny real ale worshipers drinking establishment called the Jerusalem. its near Farringdon station / Clerkenwell green. Its a treasure of a place. i tried the stout in there and all I can say is WOW

The venue would be no good for a meeting but I just thought I would mention it.

Have fun and I hope I can make the next one

Cheers
